Release 7.1.0 Software notes

Webtop

AutoInstall on Netscape 4.0x browsers
If you choose to disable the AutoInstall function on a Netscape 4.0x browser, you will receive an error message when you attempt to access the Webtop through that browser. This error message suggests enabling ``SmartUpdate'' for the Webtop to work properly. This is incorrect; if you would like to access the Webtop, re-enable the AutoInstall function.

Accessing ``Administering Your System with the UnixWare 7 Webtop''
To access Administering Your System with the UnixWare 7 Webtop documentation, point your web browser to http://systemname/webtop/help/html/en_US/sysadmin_toc.html, where systemname is the name of the system serving the documentation.

The link from within SCOhelp (under the Desktops topic) incorrectly points to the Webtop Administration Guide.

Accessing Webtop diagnostic documentation
To view Webtop diagnostic documentation, follow the link from the UnixWare 7 Webtop Administration Guide Table of Contents. Using the navigation buttons to access this information from the previous and next topics does not work correctly.

Changing the system name
If you change the name of your system after installing the Webtop, you must ensure that the system name is changed properly throughout the Webtop. To do this, perform the following commands while logged in as root:

/opt/webtop/bin/webtop setup
/opt/webtop/bin/scoadminreg

You should also confirm that the system name has been changed properly in your web server. If you are using the Netscape FastTrack Server, check the following files:

/usr/ns-home/admserv/ns-admin.conf
/usr/ns-home/httpd-80/config/magnus.conf

Replace any instances of the previous system name with the new system name. After editing the files, restart the administration server and the web server.

If you are using another type of web server, check your product documentation for information about editing configuration files.

Documentation error - recommended colors
The UnixWare 7 Webtop Release Notes state that clients should be configured to display 16 thousand colors or more for best viewing of the Webtop. This is incorrect; for best viewing, configure your client to display 65 thousand colors or more.

Webtop File Volumes page does not match documentation
The Administering Your System with the UnixWare 7 Webtop guide states that the File Volumes page of the Webtop uses the terms ``Normal'' and ``High'' to describe filesystem capacity. Instead, the File Volumes page may use the terms ``OK'' and ``Warning!'' to describe normal and high filesystem usage. These terms are identical in meaning to ``Normal'' and ``High'' and describe the same percentages of filesystem capacity."

Administration of VisionFS using the Webtop
To administer VisionFS from the Webtop, VisionFS must have already gone through the initial startup process. If you have installed VisionFS but have not performed this setup, you can do so by running (as root the /usr/vision/bin/visionfs start command from a system prompt. If this setup has not been performed, you will be unable to access VisionFS through the Webtop interface.

Running Tarantella 1.3 on a system running the Webtop
To successfully run Tarantella 1.3 on a system also running the Webtop (based on Tarantella 1.2), you must obtain and install the 1.30.905 patch from your support provider. If you do not, the Webtop Control Center will fail to function.
