Release 7.1.0 Software notes

Backup and Restore

ARCserveIT: certified devices
Devices listed as certified for use with ARCserve/Open 2.2 in the Compatible Hardware Web Pages (CHWP) are not necessarily certified for use with ARCserveIT v6.6. The CHWP will be updated as devices are certified.

ARCserveIT: backward compatibility
ARCserveIT v6.6 does not properly read backup sessions created by ARCserve/Open 2.2 remote client agents. Updated UnixWare and Openserver agents fix this problem. These updated agents are available for download, using anonymous ftp, from:

ftp://ftp.sco.com/Supplements/arcserveIT/unixware7/

Not all ARCserve/Open 2.2 Autopilot jobs are updated to ARCserveIT when running as_jobqcvt. A program temporary fix (PTF) has been provided to fix this issue. Download the following files using anonymous ftp:

ftp://ftp.sco.com/SLS/PTF7125a.Z (ptf source)
ftp://ftp.sco.com/SLS/PTF7125a.txt (installation instructions)

ARCserveIT: multibyte characters
The ARCserveIT GUI manager does not display multibyte characters correctly. This problem only affects display of filenames and directory names that contain multibyte characters, and does not affect the ability to back up and restore files containing multibyte characters.

SCO OpenServer backup and restore
The SCO OpenServer version of cpio(1) is available, in /OpenServer/bin/cpio, so that you can restore archives made using the Backup Manager under SCO OpenServer. You should not use the SCO OpenServer command to make backups under UnixWare.

See Differences for SCO OpenServer and SCO UnixWare 1 and 2 users in the online documentation for details.
