Configuring the Network File System (NFS)

Enabling NFS

NFS must be configured into your network interface (TCP/IP and a network adapter) before filesystems can be mounted or exported. Initial NFS configuration can be completed:

during initial system installation; for more information, see ``Installing or upgrading an SCO OpenServer system''.
at any other time using the Network Configuration Manager; for more information, see ``Configuring network connections''.

Your system must be able to contact remote servers and clients through one of the following:

DNS (Domain Name Server); see ``Configuring the Domain Name Service'', for more information.
An /etc/hosts file containing the name, network address, and alias of each NFS client or server host; see the hosts(SFF) manual page for the syntax and contents of the file.
NIS (Network Information Service); see ``Configuring the Network Information Service (NIS)'', for more information.

Filesystems must be exported before NFS is functional; see ``Adding, modifying and removing filesystem export configuration''.
