Administering and using LAN Manager Client

Administering and using LAN Manager Client

The LAN Manager Client (LMC) software product allows administrators to mount directories located on remote hosts across the network and then treat those directories as if they were local.

This chapter describes LMC from the viewpoint of the system administrator and the user. Included is information to help you configure LAN Manager clients. LMC is used to provide a UNIX filesystem type access to LAN Manager shared resources. The SMB LANMAN 2.0 extended protocol is currently supported, providing performance enhancements over the LAN Manager Client provided with SCO® Open Desktop® or SCO OpenServer(TM) Release 3.0 or greater.

NOTE: In addition to the networking components included with your SCO OpenServer distribution, SCO offers two products that provide distributed filesystem and printing services: SCO Advanced File and Print Server and Samba File and Print Server for SCO OpenServer. These products are included on the Optional Services CD-ROM. See the Optional Services README files for more information.

The NCR SMB protocol extensions are not supported in this release.
